Golf lesson for Chris Johnston with Rick Shiels PGA Golf Coach at Trafford Golf Centre. Chris currently plays off 10 but experiences inconsistent strikes due to early hip thrust. See how we worked on his golf swing to improve consistency and strike. This will help Chris reduce his current handicap to his target of 5 and less.
When's part 3 of the course vlog happening
It loos the lie angle of the club is incorrect, so the face is really pointing left at address, and the guy needs to raise the handle to compensate
Mr. Shields:
I'd like to offer my sincerest thank you for this video. This issue has been a problem for me for years. It feels a lot better even though I have yet to hit a golf ball. But I can assure you that simply standing taller feels like I can actually hit the ball and not top it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I know early extension is wrong but is there a hip thrust in the golf swing?…maybe at impact and towards the target ??
Would it be as effective to just make a student keep their head still? Because if they can't drop/raise throughout the swing I'd think it would force a guy like this to swing around his spine.
is that goofball wearing jeans and a tee shirt to a golf lesson? SMH some people
Do you do online lessons?
Great vid exactly my problem. This vid has sorted that for me 👍👍👍👍
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the silhouette comparisons. Keep 'em coming!!!!!!
Ever tried an elastic strap – maybe clipped to a belt loop or hooked over the top of the golfer's waistband to train them to hold their hips back.?.
Why not put his hands higher at address too?
This is my problem too and I'm so frustrated man…I'm about a 7 hc and I never had an early extension problem (at least to my knowledge) then one day like 6 months ago I just started getting tons of heel strikes…went to get a lesson, told me I was early extending and I saw it on video and realized what was going on, but i can't break this habit and its driving me nuts…I've never had an issue that's so hard to change I dont think I'm fully grasping the concept…I still play well but I line up all the way on the toe and its hurting distance a lot…frustrating
The hip thrust was killing my golf swing. I never knew I was doing this. It is corrected now. Thank you.
Early extension is a problem for me as well however, I don't understand how you are supposed to "use the ground" for power in your swing if you don't move up and down. The pros don't stay level how is this done without "early extension" problems. Thanks, Penny
