It’s getting chilly out. But don’t worry, Hannah Holden has a few ideas to help keep you warm this winter
As temperatures drop we’re all starting to thumb through the winter gear in our pro shop to see what we like. So here’s a quick rundown of the best golf jackets available to buy right now. Note these aren’t waterproofs – that’s a whole separate list coming soon – we’re just talking nice cosy casual jackets here…
Best golf jackets: FootJoy
There is something about a panelled jacket that just really catches the eye and I really like the mixture of materials in this hybrid. This charcoal/grey offering is really smart too.
For the women, sometimes simplicity wins and I’ve been swooning at this since it appeared on the FootJoy website. I do love a navy jacket and this just looks the perfect thickness for the winter months to come.
RRP: From £120

Best golf jackets: Ping
Little details such as matching colours on the zip and embroidery really pull the Ping Norse S2 Zoned together and make it stand out. But the real showstopper is that metallic like light blue panelling across the chest. Perfect if you’re after something lightweight but warm.
I am having a bit of a pink phase at the moment so the Ping Oslo II Primaloft really stood out to me. I love the different pops of contrasting pink and navy here and one has just landed on my doorstep for me to try out, so stay tuned
RRP: From £130

Best golf jackets: Adidas
Tyrell Hatton caused quite the stir in a Adidas Cold.Rdy hoodie at the BMW PGA Championship and now they have added numerous other pieces to the collection. This two-toned jacket is one of my favourite.
Another thing I love about Adidas’s collection this year? All their key jackets are offered in both the men’s and women’s line ups.
Just looking at the Frostguard jacket makes me feel warmer! I really like the panelling and the combinations of patterns and textures. Available in black and navy for men and black and berry for the ladies.
RRP: From £64.95

Best golf jackets: Under Armour
If the fact Jordan Spieth wears the Under Armour Storm Evolution Daytona isn’t enough for you then the sleeve detailing and overall comfort of this jacket will. Perfect as a mid-layer on a really cold day or an outer layer before the frost starts to bite.

Best golf jackets: Puma
I’m not sure in Britain we’ll have the luxury of wearing a winter jacket with shorts – perhaps Puma’s Primaloft Stlth Padded jacket is so cosy it instantly warms your whole body up? But seriously not only will the quilting keep you warm I like the additional detailing such as the low-profile collar.
RRP: From £150

Best golf jackets: Mizuno
I love the silver colourway in the Mixuno Techfill. The triangular detailing is also lush but really I would buy this because it looks impossible to be cold in this.

Best golf jackets: PXG
I’m not sure how long this would stay white during a winter of golf in England but I have to say that black and white detailing is gorgeous. It is not cheap though.
