A lot like spring break, the Tour’s stop in Punta Cana was one leaving us wanting to throw up. We’ll try to settle our stomachs with a hefty dose of bland picks at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
2020-2021 Record: 7-6-2 (0-3 Parlay)
All in all, the Corales Championship was not as bad as the record indicated. Two of the losses and the tie came down to the wire, none of which went our way. Out with all this bad energy and in with the good. This is the week the ship starts to sail in the right direction. I’m pulling out all the stops for the Sanderson Farms Championship – I’m talking meditation, praying, yoga, and yes, even a potential trip to Joshua Tree.
The Sanderson Farms Championship takes place at the Country Club of Jackson in…Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?…Jackson, Mississippi. This tournament is known for first-time winners and different skillsets finding success. Past champions include bombers like Cam Champ and Sebastian Munoz, but also a short hitter in Ryan Armour.
I’m going back to the basics and relying on steady, solid golfers. I know, what a revolutionary idea. Someone call the Noble Prize selection committee, I think they have a new front runner. What that really means is that I’ll be looking primarily at ball striking and putting.
Specifically, the Sanderson Farms Championship calls for competence with the big stick and with the irons from 125-150 yards and 200+ yards. With the winning score most likely landing somewhere around 20-under par, players will need to take advantage of the four Par 5’s and their birdie opportunities – meaning they’ll need to get rolling on these Bermuda greens. Now, to the picks (shoutout Sam Darnold).
